Hey! Hey! Hey!
How you feelin’ today?
Countdown to Christmas!
Tick! Tock!
I’m excited about this particular Candid Conversations feature as I get to tell you more about my best friend!
Woop! Woop!
Meet Fiona Borus, whom I fondly refer to as Fifi or Babay. Fiona is young, sassy and a whole load of classy!
Furthermore, she is born again so triple the points on awesomeness!
This cute, little powerhouse for Christ is a medical doctor, an entrepreneur and …. let me not divulge further so that I whet your interest.
I obviously have a great deal of amazing things to say about Fifi; after all, she is my very best friend right after Jesus!
“…But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
Proverbs 18:24 (NKJV)

The purpose of Candid Conversations is to showcase to you that Salvation is not mundane neither is one’s salvation story similar to another. There is so much to learn from each other and about each other as we edify the Lord Jesus Christ.
Weren’t we blessed by Kami’s story? Let’s see what we can learn from Fiona…
Sit tight.
Who is Fiona?
My name is Dr. Fiona Borus. I’m a medical doctor, entrepreneur and philanthropist.

I love coming into new spaces and watch people light up. My vision is to help people mine their treasure within and to glorify God. I love all things supernatural. I’m daring, I love to think outside the box, I’m a creator and a pioneer. I am the best.
When did you get born again and what were your reasons for accepting Christ in your life?
I got born again when I was around 10 years old. I think I did it because it was ‘the thing’ people were doing then (as I grew up in church); so it wasn’t so much of a personal walk. I stumbled many times but I can say that God kept calling me to go deeper with Him. I had a constant nagging in my heart and I eventually took my walk seriously about 3 years ago. It was tough initially but it has been (and still is) worth it. I got to know God so intimately. God and I are one; we cannot be separated. I now really like being born again and I can’t imagine it any other way.
Describe your pre-salvation persona.
I was never the wild one or the one always in clubs, doing drugs and the like but if people asked me to go with them, I would. I had no boundaries. I didn’t know how to say no and I was very insecure. I didn’t know my worth and that allowed people to walk over me. I was a people- pleaser. I kept friends who didn’t value me but even then, I realized that I still had a few people I could call true friends.
What changed when you got born again? How did the change come about?
So I basically re-dedicated my life for sure in 2015.
I had many insecurities from my childhood and with my friendships as an adult. God started healing me from the inside first. This was not immediate and it took time. I immersed myself in the Word of God and spent most of my time in church. Initially, it felt like nothing was changing but looking back; it was simply a matter of time. I learnt how to say no to ungodliness and the lusts of the world. I let go of toxic relationships. Did I mention that I used to be timid? I was mostly confused and undecided about many things but now I have confidence in myself, my personality and the things I like. So through listening and obeying the prompting of the Holy Spirit, I can assuredly say that I’m more courageous now. This new-found self-confidence has enabled me to love and serve others more. I realized that it’s not about me; rather, it’s all about about God and serving His people. I now have a life vision that I’m working towards and gone are the days when I was living my life blindly. The beautiful thing with salvation is that it’s a journey; where I am now is not where I will be tomorrow. As the scripture says, ‘we go from glory to glory’.
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.”
2 Corinthians 3:18 (NASB)
What do you know now that you wish you knew then as a new believer?
- Growth is not immediate but it takes time.
Just as a baby grows into an adult; so should we. I would often fall but God always picked me up. I wish I allowed myself to grow at God’s pace instead of trying to be what others wanted.
“..for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again,..”
Proverbs 24:16 NIV
- My salvation journey is very unique.
God has called me and ordained me to do certain things and not everything. I focused on trying to be like other people till I got to know who some of them really were and MAN! Wasn’t that a waste of time! Ever since I realized this, the pressure has been off and I love doing exactly what God has put in my heart to do.
- Read the Word of God for yourself.
While teaching can be absolutely amazing, we have the greatest teacher in us; The Holy Spirit. He will guide us in all truth.
Be deliberate about reading your Bible everyday.
- Speak out more.
I realized that we all have different personalities and preferences and all voices should be heard.
- Don’t get trapped in inter-denominational wars that don’t make sense.
It is not us against them. No one is better than the other. We are one body of Christ with only one head- Jesus Christ.
What misconceptions of salvation would you like to demystify?
- Salvation is boring.
NOT TRUE! In fact my friends and people I don’t even know, tell me I glow more and that my life looks so fun. Fragrance of Christ and all. 😉
2. If you’re spiritual you must be a weirdo.
No way! I’m working miracles! (yes, I still wear my stilettos and God has used me to lay hands on people and they get healed!) We are made to be supernatural and being supernatural is not synonymous with being weird (though there are some weirdos for real… LOL!)
3. Only the people on the pulpit are ministers of God.
While there is the five fold (christian term for apostles, pastors, evangelists, prophets); we are all ministers just in different roles. Remember what Jesus told us to do, ‘ Go forth and make disciples out of men’; that is OUR commission.
‘And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, ‘
Ephesians 4:11 NKJV
‘ Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,’
Matthew 28:19 AMP
What is your area of calling and how do you serve God with your gifts/skills/talents?
I am called into the marketplace (by market place I mean anything other than direct church work). I am a medical doctor; a general practitioner waiting to specialize in internal medicine.

I am an entrepreneur as well and my first venture is Borus Beauty; which is an organic venture.

With Borus Beauty, we create body butters with absolutely amazing scents and I am looking forward to expanding into other businesses.
God gave me the vision for all this and my impetus is to glorify God’s Name.

I am a philanthropist as well and I work with various NGOs with a keen interest in helping disadvantaged girls. I am mentor and a mentee at the same time. To be quite honest, I wouldn’t have done it all without Jesus Christ and because of God’s love for me, I am able to give back.
What’s your highlight(s) thus far after getting born again?
Getting to know the God as a Father has totally revolutionized salvation for me.
When I first got filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues; that was legit! I had always dreamt of walking in the supernatural so its been like a dream come true. Gotta give a shout out to my Senior Pastors – Mr. & Mrs. Pst. Charles and Pst. Gladys Mutuku of Harvesters Global Church.

How would you describe God from your personal standpoint?
God is my Father and when I got to know Him this way, my christian walk changed. If it’s love you need, then God’s got it. God is so loving that even when we fail or run away, He will leave the 99 to come look for the one. After all, God so loved the world that He sent His only Son to die for our sins.
God is love.
“If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost?
Matthew 18:12 (NLT)
“For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] [a]only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
John 3:16 (AMP)
What would you tell someone who is ‘scared’ of getting born again because of what they’ve seen or heard?
Try JESUS! What do you have to lose?
Jesus says in the Bible that ‘taste (test) and see that the Lord is good.’
“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”Psalm 34:8 (NKJV)
We don’t get born again because other people are born again so don’t let people’s experiences stop you for experiencing the goodness of God FOR YOURSELF!
Parting Shot?
In life and more so in this salvation journey, you may fall many many times but always get up. Don’t let the devil accuse you of anything because in Christ, you are not condemned. Enjoy every stage, for the joy is in the journey of walking into all that God has called you to be.
Finally, be strong and courageous. Clothe yourself with the strength of God for God is always with us. Forever.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9 (AMP)
“So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6 (NLT)
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”
1 Corinthians 16:13 (NIV)
Well, well, well, what you have read is just but a glimpse into the awesome life of the fun, fabulous Fifi.
Need I say more? 😉 I guess not! 😛
