The Brains behind Brian

Holy people of God,

What’s cracking?

My face is currently breaking out and it is making me feel some type of way.

The last time I battled with acne was years ago when I was ultra sick. I am now on my second dermatologist because the first one did me dirty [insert bombastic side eye].

My face is crying and so am I. However, I speak healing upon my face in the Name of Jesus Christ. I am also deeply grateful for a comprehensive medical cover that shoulders the financial burden of the frequent hospital visits, battery of scans and tests and the plethora of medication I have to get.

But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.

Isaiah 53:5 NKJV

Today, we have a guest writer who is no longer the “new” kid on the block. He made his debut on my blog with a heart-warming ode to God and today, we will get to know a little more about himself from a personal point of view. He writes about his journey with God, how it started and where he is spiritually at the moment.

Ladies and gentlemen, let’s make ourselves comfortable as we indulge in the life of Brian Ogaba….

I came to accept Christ when I was younger at around 10. I wouldn’t call that knowing Him because knowing someone comes from a context of intimacy…if you know what I mean. When I made that altar call, at home, over the television, I was still quite young, and I didn’t know what salvation meant in its entirety. I just knew that sin was bad, God would burn all sinners in hell, and I didn’t want to end up burnt!! After making that prayer, I went on breezing through life, doing my thing and knowing somehow, I won’t get burnt when I die. That was it.

So, I joined High School upon completion of Primary School. I tend to take things on fully whenever I do them; I am either totally in or not in at all. So, in high school, I kinda forgot I had ever said a sinner’s prayer. I was in the naughtiest group/”baddest” boys’ group of that time. I would help people cheat in exams, we had an exam cheating formation where we sat in a kind of pattern, and I was the key source of information, akin to Michael Scofield in Prison Break. I would sell lollipops at huge margins; about five times the value of the lollipop then split the profits with other cubicle mates. I would do plenty of rounds for great meals in the dining hall as opposed to going for just one. I almost got expelled twice but each time, the school principal said that I was too smart to be expelled and that they needed me to put the school on the map of Kenya.

In retrospect, I believe this was God being merciful to me, yet I never saw it then. Anyway, I got done with that and moved on to flight school. That is where I met an amazing friend to date, his name is Paul. You gotta love Paul… just like Paul in the Bible. So, Paul was an Engineer, and I was learning how to fly. I was doing my private pilot’s license training and in my spiritual journey, I was a lukewarm Christian. During one of my visits home, I met up with Paul in Nairobi and he mentioned to me about his church. We made a deal that if I did not like the service, I would go back to my home church. So I woke up this Sunday morning to make my way to church and arrived a little bit late, but just in time for worship. I have a musical side to me that I had no idea about until I heard that worship. The beauty of it, captivated my heart. I enjoyed that part of service and attended the preaching too. Step by step, I embarked my journey of spiritual growth and started knowing God. This was back in 2010. As I write this piece, I have known God and walked with Him for a good 13 years and counting. Look at what the Lord has done.

Wow.

I did not know that Brian used to be a bad boy. Interesting. He is now a new creation in Christ, living ferociously for the Lord.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new…”

2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV

If Brian’s story has inspired you and you would like to give your life to Christ, please repeat the below prayer out loud:

Dear Lord,

Thank You for dying on the cross for me. I believe in my heart that you died and rose again and I confess with my mouth that You are Lord and Saviour in my heart and in my life. I denounce my former ways and choose to be Your child. Thank You for setting me free. I am now born again.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen

If you said the prayer, rest assured that you made the right decision. If you are new to this blog, please subscribe below and feel free to drop a comment. If you are a loyal reader, I thank the Lord for you. God bless you.

Brian is still very much with us and we will now start talking money! in the next article.

Till next time folks.

God bless you.
