The Unexpected (II)

Hey! Hey! Hey!

What it do good people?

Happy Friday to you!!

Have you ever been in car with someone and you kept releasing lethal farts uncontrollably and it was evident that it was you polluting the air because there’s only two of you in the car (the driver and yourself)? Well, that was me yesterday. Hehehe!

If you’ve never experienced such levels of embarrassment then I don’t know how we can be friends.

How’ve you been though?

It is very interesting that a good number of men read my previous article yet, I said that it was only for the ladies. What is with you guys?

Today, we are picking up from where we left off so it goes without saying that this article as well, is just for the ladies. Sorry guys. Next time.

Ladies, are we ready?

If you’re reading my blog for the first time, you’re very welcome here. You can catch up with part one of The Unexpected series here.

So, where were we?

Man’s said he liked me, I said I liked him back then boom… nothing happened! I prayed over the matter and asked God what was going on. Was Man’s simply taking me for a ride? Did he mean a single thing he said? Was he being genuine with me all along or was he putting up a face? These questions, among others, swirled through my mind and I took them to the Lord in prayer.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7 NLT

I know that in my previous article, I sounded a bit nonchalant when I mentioned that nothing happened after I told him that I liked him; but in all honesty, your girl was hurt.

I was sad. I was listening to sappy music. I was in a funk. The Holy Spirit really comforted me during this time. He reminded me of my all time favourite Biblical character….. David.

……But David found strength in the Lord his God.

1 Samuel 30:6 (ICB)

And thus, I too encouraged myself in the Lord. I submitted the heartache to God and allowed Him to heal me. I was upset with Mr. Man’s for sure and I really felt strung along by him; but by God’s grace, I let go of the resentment and chose to forgive him and put everything behind me. This did not mean that I was going to be friends with him. No. In fact, I did not want to see him nor talk to him again.

I usually go for walks/jogs in the evening to keep healthy and maintain this bangin’ body that the Lord gave me… 😉

“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.” ~Psalm 139:14 (NKJV)

It so happens that Mr. Man’s lives within a less than 5km radius from where I live. Another interesting thing to note is that my jogging route passes right outside his house. We didn’t know this of course, until we started talking.

So, on the Monday after I had gotten over the heartache, I did what I usually do in the evenings… I went jogging. I did my very best to avoid that particular route that passed in front of Mr. Man’s house because I did not want to see him.

However, it started drizzling and thus, I had to use that very route that I was avoiding!

So when I was approaching his hood, I upped the ante and took off like I was about to beat Eliud Kipchoge’s record!

That was me jetting at that particular point

I ran till I was out of his hood then I slowed down a bit. At that point, I had to cross the road so that I continue with the rest of the run.

Behold, as I was crossing the road, guess who’s car I ended up passing right in front of …… Mr. Man’s!

How was that even possible?

I saw Mr. Man’s slow down then about 2 seconds later, I heard my phone ring. It was him.

I really contemplated on whether I wanted to pick up his call because I had been avoiding his calls. I decided to it pick up and this is how the conversation ensued:

Mr. Man’s: [sounding all excited] Mandyyyy!! Is that you?
Me: Yes
Mr. Man’s: How awesome is it to have bumped into you?
Me: I was actually avoiding you.
Mr. Man’s: Really?
Me: Yep! I did not even want to talk to you, leave alone see you!
Mr. Man’s: And how’s that turning out for you? [chuckles]
Me: Bye Man’s
Mr. Man’s: Ok, bye. Enjoy your run!

How interesting was it that the person I was avoiding, ends up being the person I bump into? Even after taking all measures possible to eliminate the chances of me meeting him inadvertently?

After that run in, pun intended, I continued jogging. Later on that evening, Man’s calls to check in on my evening walk.

Me: I am not talking to Man’s anymore. Also me….

If you asked me, there was no way I was going to talk to Man’s for more than 3 minutes but alas, the conversation lasted two hours. We spoke for longer than I had anticipated and generally, the call was a pleasant one. I was not mad at him… anymore. Plus, he is really funny and he cracked me up throughout the conversation.

The following day, I told myself the same thing; I will not talk to Mr. Man’s; but these declarations were in futility because the more I kept running away from him and avoiding him, the more the circumstances kept bringing us together. At one point, I even put a different sim card in my phone but somehow, someway; reggae did not stop. By the end of that week, we were watching a movie together. A few questions crossed my mind that day; like how I watched a whole movie without eating popcorn. Please do not ask me how that happened because these are the mysteries of the Lord God Almighty.

I am looking for a fancy way of bringing this article to a close but it’s 2:00AM in the morning as I write this; so I’ll just drop the mic on y’all.

I know you want to read the rest of the story but you know where to find me… right here on this site! 🙂 So stay tuned by subscribing to my blog. 😉 Also, feel free to tell your mama’s best friend and the neighbourhood clown to subscribe too! Hehehe!

Finally and most importantly, I take this chance to reassure you that you are amazing and that God loves you tremendously!

XO,

That Lady.
