🎶 Morning Song 🎶

Hey! Hey! Hey!👋🏾

It’s the second week of February, 2019 and before you know it; it’ll be the year 2050!! Yikes!

God tells us in John 4:23-24 that He is searching for worshippers who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. True worship is of the heart, not of the flesh. The term ‘Worship’ is often misconstrued to be a genre of Gospel music (only) but in essence, true worship is a lifestyle and the music is simply a form of expression of what is genuinely in one’s heart.

February is purportedly the month of love and today, I have a guest writer who will share with us a poem as an expression of her love for God. Awww! 😍 How sweet! 😍

My contributor chooses to remain anonymous at the moment but I will nickname her Aikay because the initials of her name are I.K. 🙂

So here’s what Aikay has to say….

One of the most profound qualities of God is His unconditional love towards us. God’s love is so abundant and unfailing that it’s baffling. It chases you through your insecurities, your wounds, your hostility and your cynicism; relentlessly pursuing you until it gets to the delicate spirit covered in all that murk.

‘Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. ‘

Psalm 143:8 NIV

I have particularly enjoyed watching myself grow in love with God. God has moved from a Master in the sky with an open book before Him and whip in His right-hand ready to smite me; to a handsome face in fine robes with a gentle smile and eyes like the ocean.

‘I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.’

Song of Songs 2:1 NIV

I consider myself a very private person. I find it interesting how I express myself in such a vulnerable and open manner with poetry. It’s the way to my heart. I could find no better expression for my love of God than through the perfect gift of poetic prose that He gave me. I call this piece “MORNING SONG” because every moment with God feels like the newness of morning and the purity of dew on the leaves.

MORNING SONG
The starry sky , still drowsy from the night yet filled with light provides a most serene breadth.
I cannot think of a better time to whisper my heart out to you. To gaze upon your beauty and be in
wonder of who you are. To listen to your still small voice and be perplexed at how great you are and how little you can be.
The birds agree. I want to know what they are singing.
“He’s alive! Praise Him! We love Him! Hallelujah!” Yes indeed.
And as the sky awakens it mirrors the condition inside me. That all I had known was hurt doubt and
fear. My fists were always on standby. Heart covered in layers and layers of questions, insecurities,
abuse and pain. The world around me was well calculated; Life a series of lifeless motions crafted to
guard whatever dignity I had left
Who can gaze upon your beauty and remain the same? Who dares to return to darkness at the
encounter of your glory and light? Who is this slow dancer with death?
It looked like darkness had taken over upon that limp sky but the light continued to spread His wings;
transforming the starry night into a bright blue hue.
Your face is shiny and beautiful. And as I stare at it, my face is changing too. It’s reacquainted with a smile. My being is changing too. Where impatience now tolerance. Where questions now peace.
Where weeping now gladness, where insecurities now contentment. A growing acceptance of who you made me to be, flaws and all.

It looks like the trees are waking up too. Their leaves are shaking. The cat is doing its morning stretch
Everything awaits the light . It gives fullness. It gives life.

By Aikay.

Someone get me some tissues because that poem is quite the tear-jerker! When we think about the goodness of our Lord; how he first loved us before we were even born, how He sent His only Son to die for you and me… Ah, God’s love is matchless! There is none like our God!

‘Who among the gods is like you, Lord ? Who is like you— majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders? In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.’

Exodus 15:11,13 NIV

“ Lord , the God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven above or on earth below—you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way.”‘

1 Kings 8:23 NIV

Now that Aikay mentioned the lily of the valley as quoted in the book of Songs of Solomon; let me tell you a fun fact. 🙂 Did you know that the lily of the valley belongs to the asparagus family? All the veggie-lovers say heeeey!

There’s a flower in the asparagus fam!

I came across that interesting tidbit as I was searching for the appropriate cover image for this article and I thought I should share that new found knowledge with you. 🙂 So tell a friend too! 🙂

You, my sweet reader, are such a blessing!❤️ Thank you so much for reading! 😍

Happy Valentine’s Day to you! ❤️

Remember that God’s love for you surpasses every kind of Valentine’s euphoria you could ever fathom! 😍

‘Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. ‘

John 15:13
