Hey! Hey! Hey!

How’s it going?

I normally begin my intros by saying ‘hey’ thrice and if you have ever wondered how it goes, take a look at how I usually do it:

It’s a GIF so no audio here but you can make out the ‘hey hey hey’ from my lip movements; right? 😉

So now that I have given you that mini-tutorial; go back to the beginning of this post, read my salutation again and make sure to put a twist to it.. Heeeeeeeyy! 😉

                                                      CHRISTMAS!

Some people did not know whether they would make it this far into the year but you know what? It is all by the Lord’s Mighty power! 

We are now winding up 2018 and what way to conclude the year than with a book review!

Woohoo!

I know this is the time people draw up their new year resolutions and evaluate how their year has been so far. As you jot down your plans and aspirations for 2019; please include book reading as one of them. The more you read, the more you will know! That’s right! 😉

Our inaugural book review will be done by none other than Mr. Lamu Maundu! I’ve been featuring ladies on my blog lately and let me show you that there are men who are born again too! 珞

Lamu is a man of many firsts; he is the first male personality that I am featuring on my blog and he is the very same one pioneering the Book Reviews section! There must be something very special about this gentleman, so here’s a little more about him:

Lamu.jpgK. Lamu Maundu is a minister in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and a Global Marketing Communications Executive. He spends most of his time teaching, preaching and healing as God commanded of him in Matthew 28:19-20

‘Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, Or all peoples. baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”’

Matthew 28:19-20 NLT

Lamu is an avid reader and I had the privilege of asking him a thing or two about his reading culture.

What kinds of books do you like reading?
I am more inclined in reading books that center on Christ.
This desire to focus on these kind of books started last year (2017) after receiving the life  of Christ. I hadn’t read any books about Christ before apart from a scripture or 27 from the Bible; so I made a personal decision to study about my Blood Brother, Jesus Christ. And I am quite enthused at the revelations of God through His Word and other related books.

Which is your favorite read thus far?
I have several favourite ones – actually, there is none that I have read that isn’t a favourite. What I tend to experience with each book I read is so different that I cannot pinpoint and say that a particular book is a favourite.
I would actually put the most favourite book as the Bible. (The different translations 珞)
However, a book that I read and it changed my life is one called “Growing Up Spiritually” by Kenneth E. Hagin.

What are your greatest takeaways from the book?
I learnt a lot from this book. My eyes were opened to the fact that salvation is not about only being born of the Spirit of God at the point of being born again. Rather, we have such depths to go in things of God. And the deeper one goes, the more revelations they will get. So I like this book because it laid a great foundation for me on the things of God. I also got to locate myself spiritually and understand where am at and what I need to do to grow in the Word.

Tell us a little about the author?
Kenneth E. Hagin was the founder of Kenneth Hagin Ministries and Rhema Bible Training College, a Holy Spirit-led school; which I am currently enrolled in studying for a Diploma in Ministry.

Kenneth went on to be with Christ in 2003; before which he had ministered for over 69 years. He came to be known as the modern father of faith by the time he passed on. He was used by God in great ways and inspired a lot of current day ministers of the Gospel of Christ.

What made you choose to read that book?
Firstly, it was a school curriculum book but when I read it again, it shed such light unto my spiritual eyes. It has really helped me grow in the precepts of God.

What are you reading currently?

I am reading a book called “How to Study the Bible” written by Kenneth E. Hagin. 

What is it about?
It actually is about how to read the Bible. One passage that stands out for me in the scriptures is 2 Timothy 2:15 “Always be eager to present yourself before God as a perfect and mature minister, without shame, as one who correctly explains the Word of Truth.” We need to divide the Word of God correctly. And we need to understand how to divide that Word.

This is how I look at it:

For someone to learn about things to do with Biology, they
have to be taught. To learn Mathematics, one has to be taught. And so it is with all other things of life.

So, for me, I want to learn how to divide the Word of God properly so that this Word can come alive in me.

Any recommendations? Why?
I highly recommend a book called “Ever Increasing Faith” by Smith Wigglesworth.
It will teach you what faith is. Of course the Bible can still do this but I recommend it because the author was a great teacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and there is a way he explains these statutes of God.

What wise words from Mr. Lamu, it is quite evident that he reads a lot. Remember that you can only speak what you know of and you only know something once you’ve heard, seen or read of it.

Lamu is extremely intentional about enriching his walk with Christ thus his book selection tells the tale.

As we  come to the close of 2018 and beckon the new year, let us develop a positive reading culture and make a conscious effort of growing this habit.

Do you have a reading list for 2019? It’s time to ask the Holy Spirit to help you craft one! 珞

I need to come up with my list as well so I’d love to hear more about your future reads and we can compare notes so let’s talk more via the comments section below. 🙂

I bless you in Jesus’ Name and I speak forth a prosperous 2019 unto you. The Lord guide you in all you do and may your life bring glory to Him all the days of 2019 [and beyond ].

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

God loves you… a whole lot!
