Mary on the Hill

““You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.”

Matthew 5:14 NKJV

Amen? Amen.

Hey hey hey!

I’m looking for a unique greeting/opening statement or phrase. Suggestions?

Make it catchy ey?😉

Our intro is from Matthew 5:14 and as you’ve read above, it talks about being the light of the world. #Lit 🔥

On 21st July, 2018; I was graced with the opportunity to give a talk during the Career Day at MaryHill Girls High School. There’s something about the name ‘Mary’ that reminds me of the lead female character in the children’s story, Little Red Riding Hood; could her name have been Mary? I wonder. Well, it so happened that I was in a red cape that day too!

The girls stand to sing their school anthem.

Professionally, I am in the ICT (Information Communication Technology) sphere and I advocate for and champion causes that are centered on  climate change awareness and mitigation through Climate Smart Agriculture. My outreach is targeted towards the youth, women and Persons with Disabilities(PWD). I enlightened the girls about the effects of climate change on the environment and gave them a snapshot of what the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are and how they too can participate in mitigating the effects of climate change even while in school.

I’ll delve further into this topic in another blog post; alright?

My first ministry is to preach the Gospel of Christ and I take every occasion available to speak on God’s goodness and to lead people to receive the life of Christ.

All glory to God.

As the girls would come to my booth; we spoke on careers, education and professional advancement. While at it, I tactfully took the chance to pray with them and share Christ with them. My most important piece of advice to the students was that above all else; they should allow the Holy Spirit to guide them to that which God created them to do and who they were created to be.

‘“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”’

Jeremiah 1:5

Each person has a unique, God-given purpose and it is God’s individual calling in one’s life that can give direction on which career choice to make.

Picture please! Posing with some of the young ladies that came by my booth

It was amazing to see how those young ladies were so eager to know more of God. I got to speak with a group of girls who had formed a gospel band and would always lead worship during their Christian Union (CU) services in school. How inspiring!

One of the behind-the-scenes snaps that were captured during the sessions.

There was a hunger and a thirst for God in these young girls and they were so encouraged when I told them that Salvation does not equate to a life of boredom and spookiness.

Keep the Triple S vibe: Saved.Sassy.Spunky. #SSS

I prayed with some of the girls for the infilling of the Holy Spirit and most began speaking in tongues immediately after prayer! Hallelujah! 🙌🏽

As the event drew to a close, the School’s Principal called upon Pastor Tee (watch this space) to end the day with a Word of prayer but before the actual prayer commenced; the Holy Spirit softened the hearts of the teenagers through a worship song. A snippet of the lyrics are as thus:

My Chains are gone, I’ve been set free

My God my Savior has ransomed me

And like a flood His mercy reigns

Unending love, Amazing Grace

Live in action!

My chains are gone! Hallelujah!

Who the Son sets free is free indeed!

“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”

John 8:36 NKJV

I would have loved to stay the afternoon with the “Ma’hillianz” as they call themselves; but the school program stipulated that it was time for them to break for Games.

I am definitely looking forward to going back to MaryHill for follow up sessions and fellowship. I am so thankful that the Lord chose me as a vessel to spread His Gospel to His sweet children. It is indeed an honour.

I am active in the school outreach ministry and I’ll share more of what God is doing in the lives of young children. It is absolutely fascinating!

If you’re reading this post and are not born again and would like to receive Christ; repeat this prayer aloud:

Lord Jesus, I heed to your call in my life. I denounce the devil and my evil ways and I choose You to be Lord and Savior in my life. I believe in my heart that You died on the cross to set me free. I believe that You rose again from the dead so that I may have eternal life. I receive the life of Christ in me today. I am saved. I have been set free. I am born again. Thank You Jesus. Hallelujah! In Jesus’ Name.

Amen.

Congratulations for saying that prayer! 👏🏾

You are now born again! 💃🏾

The how-to guide to salvation is:

Step 1. Believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord

Step 2. Confess with your mouth that which you believe in step 1 above

Succinct. 👌🏽

Yes, it’s that simple! 🙂

See below:

“In fact, it says, “The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.”

Romans 10:8-10 NLT

It is God’s desire for us to have eternal life. If you just got born again by reading the prayer above, I’d like to know how we can walk together in your salvation journey so please comment and I’ll reach out to you.

Winding down on this post; always remember that:

You are blessed. You are talented. You are a child of the Most High God and He loves you more than you can fathom. (Now, read the above phrases out loud replacing “You are” with “I am“)

Stay tuned for the next edition.

You rock!

XO,

❤️

That Lady.

[…] Pastor Tee was the name I ‘baptized’ Lamu with soon after we started talking and now…. [drum roll] …. Lamu is a full time minister of the Gospel! Interesting turn of events, right? Talk about plot twist! Indeed, God’s plans for each one of us are beyond human understanding because it is only God who  knows our tomorrow. […]
